In 1981, a murder has just occurred in a darkened alley. It is up to the player, Detective X, to crack the case before the trail runs cold. All of the potential witnesses to the crime, the civilians living in the surrounding buildings, claim to have little information on a crime which occurred meters from their doorsteps.

Luckily for the player, they are no normal detective. To aid in the recovery of lost clues to the murder, they are able to jump into the minds of the bystanders. However, this is no ordinary task, as every human mind is a bit different, and the witnesses’ memories of the events around the time of the crime are not always clear.
